A new job opening for the young and dynamic professionals is selling like hot cakes now-a-days, i.e recruitment for the education and social upliftment process of the young offenders in the jail. Education was provided to the offenders in jail since long time back, but now the jail authorities have set out to remodel the education system in all new way for the offenders in the jail have more social values and get more respectfully accepted in the society.

As Government ministers are looking to increase the number of education hours of the young offenders undertake on a weekly basis. Werrington Young Offenders' Institution in order to support this initiative have set up a recruitment drive to hire right candidates for the right jobs but not at the cost of the existing ones

Here are the 5 Changes incorporated in the Jail Education system :

  1. The new module comprises of individual pathways where one-to-one session will be held with them to determine their own expectations, their previous education and also their goals and aspirations.

  2. The Key Stage 4 core subjects, like English, Maths and Computing are embedded into each pathway, but the jail authorities can tailor them to fit the boys' needs. They can also do art, music and IT.

  3. The educational hours will be increased and split into morning and evening sections along with 3 hours of compulsory physical education.

  4. Learning is the major concern for the new Educational module. The jail authorities would like to make provisions to find out what these young boys like doing and help them to develop skills, both practical and for employ-ability.

  5. According to the statements given by the Werrington Young Offenders' Institution , " "We can also offer the boys temporary licenses, which means if they display an aptitude for something like brickwork or painting, we can get a work placement for them in the community."One success story we've had was one boy who went out on a temporary license work placement is now completing an apprenticeship outside."

According to a survey on childhood offence, youth offence are mostly committed if the children have a unhealthy family environment or subjected to unprotested child abuse or have limited education or struggled at mainstream schools, so our aim is to rehabilitate them and make them better people.Education plays a massive role in rebuilding the mental setup of any offender and so might impact their mental stability and oblige them to rethink before re offending.
