Moreover you can easily enrol in an online course and earn an accredited degree without even going to a conventional classroom. Due to the flexibility and convenience offered by these courses, the demand for online learning is growing rapidly worldwide.

Growth of Online Education

In the last few years, increasing number of students and professionals are opting for online education as it helps them to save money and time. As a result, most of the renowned colleges, universities and International Business Schools have now started to incorporate online modes into their curriculum.  These institutes have also started to offer various online courses to their students as well. With the rising charges of on-campus university degrees, it is fast becoming inaccessible for the middle class students. Moreover, nowadays it has become mandatory to complete higher education for getting a job and advancing your career in this competitive global job market.

Emergence of Online Schools

In order to deal with the present situation many private establishments have come forward to offer excellent online school programmes, educational tools, accredited degrees and higher education courses at much affordable rates. For instance, the Khan Academy, a non-profit online educational portal, offers video lectures and tutorials for free. The Khan Academy, formed by Salman Amin Khan, has become highly popular as it enables to students to learn at their own convenience. Currently, it offers lessons and tutorials in Humanities, Economics, Science and standard test preparations. The website has also partnered with reputed institutes like The Museum of Modern Art, Stanford School of Medicine and The Brookings Institution.

Online learning offers a wide range of benefits which is fuelling its constantly growing popularity. Many universities that offer online education like Kaplan University, Capella University and University of Phoenix, offer various courses which you can complete online. As it offers multiple payment options and flexible schedules, these courses prove to be more affordable than traditional courses. You can also study business degrees from any Online International Business School of your choice.

Online Education in Traditional Colleges

Many traditional colleges and universities have been offering online programmes to their students for several years in order to help them enrol and attend classes in a more flexible manner. However, the students still had to formally enrol on campus and attend conventional classrooms. But with the growth of modern online courses, the traditional educational institutes have realised that they need to upgrade and incorporate online learning much more effectively to remain competitive.

Development of Traditional Education

Institutes like Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Princeton University, Stanford University, Drexel University and Harvard University have successfully modified their traditional education format to incorporate online education options. Moreover a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) platform has been created by the joint efforts of Harvard University, University of California, Berkeley and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. This non-profit establishment provides free online courses from the three institutions to everyone.

Future of Online Education

Although, on-campus education may not be completely replaced by online learning, but it is now being widely accepted by those students and professionals who want to earn an affordable and accredited higher education degree in their preferred field. Traditional learning options are lagging behind due to increasing tuition fees.

Online learning makes a four year degree programme accessible for everyone, who might not have been able to pursue higher studies otherwise. The popularity and reach of online education will grow even further as more learning options are offered to expand its acceptance worldwide.
